The masterful young vibraphonist and composer Nikara Warren brings her Black Wall Street project that explores jazz, hip-hop, neo-soul, Afro-Latino and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, abstract sound-collage and more.
"Black Wall Street isn’t a record of jazz shaped by truths. It’s a record of truths shaped by jazz." – Downbeat Magazine.
Warren will peform works as part of a quintet from her debut project, Black Wall Street, named for the affluent black neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma that was burned to the ground during the 1921 Tulsa race massacre, as well as samples from her upcoming sophmore album Ode to the Sample. This event is co-hosted by Black + Society.
The Band will be featuring Nikara Warren, Hailey Niswanger, Mike Blankenship, Gulio Xavier Cetto, & James Small.
